Jennifer Frontrunner For “The Silver Linings Playbook”

EXCLUSIVE: I’m told that Jennifer Lawrence is in pole position for the role in The Silver Linings Playbook, the drama that David O Russell will direct with Mark Wahlberg starring. This was a coveted role that many young actresses wanted.

Among those actresses mentioned as being in the mix have been Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway and Andrea Riseborough (Madonna’s W.E.). If things go the way I’m hearing, Lawrence would shoot the film after she completes the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, which Gary Ross is directing for Lionsgate. Production on Silver Linings will begin in the fall. Based on Matthew Quick’s novel, the film revolves around a former high school teacher who was institutionalized for depression and is then released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor with problems of her own. That is the coveted role.

Jennifer gets invitation for Motion Picture Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Friday it was extending membership invitations to 178 actors, directors, executives and others, including Ellen Page, Anthony Mackie, Russell Brand, Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lawrence.

“These individuals are among the best filmmakers working in the industry today,” Academy President Tom Sherak said in a statement.  “Their talent and creativity have entertained moviegoers around the world, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”

The group said that its membership policies would have allowed up to 211 new members in 2011 but that several branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than were proposed to them. Voting membership has held steady at just under 6,000 members since 2003.

In an unprecedented gesture, documentary filmmaker Tim Hetherington, who was killed in Libya in April, was listed among the invitees.  Hetherington was an Oscar nominee this year for his film “Restrepo.” The Documentary Branch proposed that his name be included among the 2011 invitees, and the governors agreed.

Read on for the full list of invitees.

Jennifer does NOT have Twitter

Every Jennifer fan wants to find way to contact her so some people use this to pretend to be her and feel important or something. Official sources confirm that Jennifer does NOT have twitter account. If you come across an account that claims to be her it’s just fake.

Lionsgate categorically denies any twitter account of the Katniss Everdeen actress.

This is NOT Jennifer Lawrence’s Twitter account. We will be sure to keep everyone posted on all official social pages.

Its not accurate. She’s not on twitter. We will be taking it down so thanks for bringing it to our attention.

PopWrap Interview

Jennifer Lawrence: In ‘Mockingjay’ I get to be Joan of Arc!

I first met Jennifer Lawrence in June 2010. At the time, her movie “Winter’s Bone” was a critical smash but the spotlight that comes along with Oscar nominations & major movie casting had yet to find her. But let me tell you, one year later — after all the red carpet hoopla, “X-Men: First Class” attention and “Hunger Games” hiring — Jennifer is exactly the same down-to-earth, self-deprecating girl who was more interested in where I bought my bag than talking about her actorly motivation.

A skill that will undoubtedly serve her well over the next three years as she becomes one of the most popular and omnipresent actors thanks to her casting as Katniss in “The Hunger Games” movies. Yes, that Young Adult Rocket has one destination: stardom. Just ask Kristen Stewart.

Sitting down with Jennifer is always a joy, as you can probably tell from the following interview. It takes so many detours I almost got whiplash. So keep reading because in addition to talking “Hunger Games” and “X-Men,” I also get Jennifer’s take on psychics, her lack of parental supervision and vomiting on live television.

PW: I know this is still fairly new to you, but if there are any nerves, you’re doing a remarkable job of hiding them.
Jennifer: Right before I went on the “Letterman” stage, the guy who was telling me where to go said, “have fun out there, you’ll be great.” And I just looked at him and said, “I think I’m going to throw up.” [laughs] But once you’re out there, it’s OK. I think I’m getting a bit better at not being nervous. Mostly because I’m so focused on my posture. All I think is, “suck in! suck in! don’t put your arm against your body!” But that can screw me up to because it’s like, “wait, what is David Letterman saying?” Continue reading PopWrap Interview

Jennifer talks “X-Men”, fame and “Hunger Games”

“I’m at the Jimmy Fallon dressing room. I was just saying good-bye to my entourage.”

Jennifer Lawrence is on the phone, explaining why there is so much commotion in the background as we attempt to begin a brief interview. She says the word entourage in a way that implies air quotes; Lawrence, 20, doesn’t seem like the type to take the concept of Hollywood posses seriously. But at the least, she should probably get used to the commotion.

That’s because in the past year, this Louisville, Ky. native, has quickly rocketed from under-the-radar indie actress to movie industry It Girl.

First she earned an Academy Award nomination for her turn as a steely teen in “Winter’s Bone.” Then she took on the role of young shape-shifter Mystique (non-mutant name: Raven Darkholme) in “X-Men: First Class,”her first attempt at blockbuster fare, which arrives in theaters Friday. And now Lawrence is playing her buzziest role to date: the teen warrior Katniss Everdeen in the adaptation of the popular post-apocalyptic young-adult book series “The Hunger Games,” which is currently shooting in Wilmington, N.C.

“The Hunger Games” fan fervor has made her the subject of intense Internet chatter and also recently landed her on the cover of Entertainment Weekly (see below). So how is Lawrence handling all of the sudden attention?

During a conversation briefly interrupted by the lack of cell reception in a parking garage, we talked about that, as well as her transformation into Mystique and how she and “X-Men” co-star James McAvoy bonded on-set. (Apparently that involved making fart noises.)

Was it strange to go from doing movies like “Winter’s Bone” to an “X-Men” flick? Or is there ultimately little difference between making an indie vs. a comic-book film?
Jennifer Lawrence: It’s all filmmaking. The behind the scenes is always different: you have a bigger trailer, there’s better food. Things like that. I still do the movies for the same reasons. I still love the script, I love the director, I love the character and the other actors involved. So all of the reasons why I was there, they were all the same.

It’s kind of like camping versus going to a resort. They’re both fun, they’re just different kinds of fun.

How long did you have to sit in the chair to get the Mystique make-up done?.
Lawrence:
: I had to either stand or sit on a bicycle seat for about eight hours when it was full body.

A bicycle seat?
Lawrence:
Yeah, you can’t sit in a chair because then they can’t get to all your good parts.

Fan Questions Answered by Jennifer

Q: Sean
How does Mystique differ from the one in the other films?

Jennifer:

This is when she’s younger, so we see her grow from an insecure, curious girl into the strong powerful woman we know so well.

Q: Jill
Other than the make-up, what was the most difficult part of filming X-Men First Class?

Jennifer:

There was a constant concern of making sure I didn’t do anything to disappoint the huge fan base.

Q: Dena
What is the most fun about playing Mystique?
|
Jennifer:

Once the makeup was on, I was a walking piece of art. The paint really is fascinating and beautiful.

Mystique Interview

Jennifer Lawrence rocketed to fame with her Oscar-nominated role in Winter’s Bone, which she followed up with an equally excellent performance in the recently released The Beaver. This summer sees her try her hand at a big-budget blockbuster, playing Raven Darkholme in X-Men: First Class. The shape-shifting mutant who becomes better known as the villainous Mystique, Lawrence plays her as the good girl before she turns bad, and IGN caught up with her on-set late last year to discuss the evolution of her character.

IGN: Is starring in a superhero movie an antidote to the seriousness of Winter’s Bone?
Jennifer Lawrence: I actually was thinking of it that way. Not this movie specifically, but kind of thinking about doing something a little lighter. I wouldn’t call it an antidote, but I was definitely looking forward to it.

IGN: So tell us about your character.
Lawrence: Raven, or Mystique, is a shape-shifter and when she is in her natural, blue, scaly, red-haired form she also has super-human agility. She’s young, and she’s a normal teenager dealing with insecurities, but her insecurities aren’t that normal. She’s insecure about being a mutant, but she slowly grows to accept it and evolves into herself and starts to love it.

Jennifer Covers Flare Magazine

Looking absolutely gorgeous Jennifer will be on another cover, this time on Flare magazine. I hope we’ll be able to get more outtakes of this photoshoot soon.

Jennifer Lawrence rocks a Gucci dress and belt with a Louis Vuitton bracelet on the cover of Flare magazine’s June 2011 issue, on newsstands in Canada on Monday (May 16).

Here’s what the 20-year-old actress had to share:

On being a wild child: “My mom [says] – Jenn wasn’t allowed to play with the girls at recess. She had to play with the boys because she’s too rough.”

On her athletic build: “I’d rather look a little chubby on camera and look like a person in real life, than to look great onscreen and look like a scarecrow in real life.”

On Oscar parties: “I went to the Vanity Fair [Oscar] party for a cool 15 minutes. And then I took off. I’m like a little old lady. I’m always tired around midnight! I mean, it was cool to see Elton John, and I met Billy Crystal, which was amazing, but yeah, I’m mostly just kind of uncomfortable.”

On the success of Winter’s Bone: “I cried when we got into Sundance. I never saw any of this coming.”

“Let me be like Foster when I’m older”

“Famous people always kind of have this air,” said Jennifer Lawrence, 20, who plays a friend of Gibson’s character’s son in the film and was nominated for an Oscar this year for “Winter’s Bone.” “They have this certain way of speaking ’cause they’re used to everyone listening to them. Jodie doesn’t talk like that. There’s a pureness about the way she goes around in the world. As I watched her on set, I said this silent prayer, ‘Please let me be like that when I’m older. I don’t want to end up like one of those crazy famous people who go off the deep end.'”

Bill Engvall on Jennifer

Engvall still follows Lawrence’s career — with pride.“Little Jennifer Lawrence, bless her heart! I love her to death,” he said.

“My wife and I couldn’t have been more proud of her if she were our own daughter. In every interview she did, she’d give me credit. I love her for that.

“Of my favorite scenes that I did on that show, one of them was with Jennifer. I go back and watch it every once in a while. We had a scene where she was mad at me and I had to go in and apologize to her. We had that nice dad-daughter moment. I remember (thinking), ‘This girl’s good.’ She’s got it; she’s got what it takes. I think she’ll be holding that statuette before she’s done.”
